Tennessee Homeless Solutions Opening
New Programs in Benton and Dyer Counties, West TN!
The Benton County Community Resource Center opened January 2, 2018 in Camden, TN. The Center will connect needs with resources such as healthcare, housing, domestic violence services, disability services, food, etc. A special thank you to the Mann Family Foundation and West TN Healthcare for this opportunity for the Benton Co residents! Benton Co CRC needs: 3 floor mats for outside doors, desktop computer, locking filing cabinet, 1 1/2 inch binders, pens, 2 clipboards, and copy paper.

The Dyer County Making A Difference Day Shelter will open later this month. The Shelter will focus on employment and housing. Job preparation classes will focus on employer expectations, appropriate work attire, resume preparation, computer skills and job search. The Making A Difference Day Shelter will establish and engage in place based strategies, place connections to opportunity, and promote private investment in the community. The Day Shelter will also offer a mail room so that persons may use as a permanent address for employment and entitlements such as food stamps, Social Security benefits, health insurance, etc.
The Making A Difference Day Shelter will help persons in the community to develop life skills needed to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness by acting as catalyst to bring much needed programs and services to homeless and unemployed persons in Dyer County. These programs include but are not limited to Social Security Payee Services, Drug and Alcohol family support, etc. All specialized services will be provided by existing professional agencies, the Day Shelter will provide a venue for these services.
Day Shelter needs: 2 desks, 2 office chairs, locking filing cabinet, very large dry erase board, 8 ft tables, folding chairs, spiral notebooks, pens and pencils, desktop computers. Monetary donations will be needed to use as unrestricted funds such as but not limited to: ID fee, birth certificate fee, etc.

In the past 12 months, the THS Emergency Solutions grant and Permanent Housing Program has assisted a total of 55 literally homeless households (121 persons) with housing and case management so that they may succeed in becoming self sufficient.
In addition, with our Supportive Services for Veteran Families, THS assisted 70 Veteran Households with Rapid Re-housing, Prevention housing services. Our SSVF program is in partnership with West TN Legal Services.
***THS is a proud partner and lead agency of the West TN Continuum of Care(CoC). The CoC is made up of agencies that come together to lead the fight of ending homelessness in 23 counties. In the past 12 months, the CoC as a whole has assisted over 1200 households with services anywhere from outreach, emergency shelter to permanent housing. The CoC works closely with HUD and state agencies to secure funding for the services that are provided.
